NITHM’s Valedictory Program – Virtual Faculty Development Program for College of Tourism and Service of Andijan (CTSA), Uzbekistan.

National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM), Hyderabad concluded the one-week virtual Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Teaching and Learning for Tourism and Hospitality that was held from 14th – 18th Jun’21;  for faculty of The College of Tourism and Service of Andijan (CTSA), Uzbekistan. Fulfilling the 1st Academic Training Exchange Program after entering the MoU on 17th Mar ’21. 

The Valedictory program held on 18th Jun’21 at 12:20 pm IST. The Chief guest, was Prof. Venkat Ramana, Vice-Chairman of TS Council of Higher Education, Guest of Honor: Turgunov Tursunali Tolibjonovich, Director of the CTSA, Uzbekistan and Program Director Dr. S. Chinnam Reddy, Director, NITHM. Welcoming remarks & overview shared by Mr. Mahender Reddy, Program Coordinator. He mentioned the program was for NITHM faculty members to share their knowledge and experience on teaching and learning in tourism; hospitality education and also the employment sectors. The industry experts and representatives from the government also provided insights on skills required for working in the industry and management of businesses etc. The opening address was given by the Guest of Honor: Mr. Turgunov Tursunali Tolibjonovich, Uzbekistan Director of the CTSA. He thanked NITHM Director for arranging the FDP, he was happy with the knowledge sharing and also thanked the resource faculty. He mentioned that it was really nice to have the two countries join for this program, and he looks forward to more exchange programs for both faculty and students. 

Remarks from the program; shared by Dr.Chinnam Reddy, Director, NITHM stated that this is the beginning of the exchange programs and the plans for many more during the year. This is very good for knowledge sharing for both country’s faculty. And until the pandemic clears up, we would continue to have virtual workshops; research training programs, and training for both students and faculty. And definitely, both countries can take this knowledge sharing to great heights.

The chief guest was Professor. Venkat Ramana, Vice-Chairman of TS Council of Higher Education; In his address mentioned Knowledge cannot be taken away from anyone, so if both countries work together definitely we can achieve success in joint research; international conferences; workshops with (CTSA) Uzbekistan. He invited the CTSA team to visit Telangana and experience the state’s warm hospitality. He also said that the TS Chief Minister Mr.K. Chandrasekar Rao’s vision is to make Telangana the choicest education state, with a rich institutional base.  He congratulated the Director of the CTSA, Andijan, Uzbekistan, and NITHM Director for the Mou actioning in such a short span conducting the exchange FDP program and also the faculty participants and resource people. We should open doors for more research with both TS and The College of Tourism and Service of Andijan (CTSA), Uzbekistan. The validatory concluded with the vote of thanks by Program Convener Dr. Neeraj Gohil, Asst. Professor (T), NITHM – he thanked all the participant faculty of (CTSA), resource people, and distinguished guests with the chief guest for participating in the validatory program.  He concluded by congratulating all the Faculty for their knowledge sharing and this will definitely open doors for many more exchange programs.
