Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute

Our community is now facing another dreaded challenge in this current COVID-19 pandemic. Immunocompromised patients, after recovery from COVID-19, are now being increasingly diagnosed with and succumbing to a fungal infection called black fungus (Mucormycosis).

This black fungus has a high predilection for nose, sinuses, eyes and sometimes brain. Being equipped with surgeons who are experts in this region along with the infrastructure to deal with such patients, Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital, Hyderabad, is extending a helping hand to the patients in need.

Our institute is starting the multidisciplinary clinic for management of Mucormycosis.  The surgical team includes ENT & Head and neck surgeons, Neurosurgeon, Ophthalmic surgeon, Reconstructive surgeon and maxillofacial surgeon. The medical management would be shouldered by Physicians, ICU specialists and Microbiologists.

We are stepping up our services in this hour of crisis by this act of dealing with Mucormycosis alongside our ongoing cancer care.
